Introduction
It has been known for some time that being overweight or obese can have adverse effects on the reproductive functions of women.

Overweight and obese women can have many complications during pregnancy, including problems connected to gestation that may result in having an overweight baby, abnormal delivery or delivery by caesarian section.

Unfortunately, methods used by modern medicine to reduce and stabilize weight in these women are not effective enough. Because of the long duration of treatment and its potential side effects, we cannot always use those methods with pregnant women.

Generally, adverse effects of weight loss treatments include reduced appetite, while fat burners may be harmful to the fetus.

The materials and methods
We performed a preliminary statistic analysis of 60 case histories of pregnant overweight and obese women living in Thailand. The women were between the ages of 21 and 40, and they became pregnant during the first 4 months of Medislim treatment.

Results
All pregnancies were without complications. The women went into labor in their 38th-40th weeks of gestation, and all had healthy mature babies weighing between 2100 to 4200 grams (Weight of full-term babies in Thailand is between 2500 to 3500 grams).

51.6% of the women chose delivery through cesarean section. There was one case of application of forceps (1.66%), and one instance of vacuum-extraction (1.66%) due to fetal hypoxy.

Age group of the mother and body mass index (BMI)
There were 7 women aged 21-28 (28.33%), 37 women aged 29-37 (61.66%) and 6 women over the age of 37 (10%). 22 women (36.66%) weighed under 60 kg, 22 women (36.66%) weighed 61-70 kg, 7 women (11.66%) weighed 71-80kg, and 9 women (15%), 81-90 kg.

We placed the women into 3 groups according to their Body Mass Index:
Group A - BMI under 25 - 30 women (50%),
Group B - BMI between 25 and 28 - 15 women (25%)
Group C - BMI over 28 - 15 women (25%)

Among 60 newborn babies, 50% were male and 50%, female.

Table 1 presents the data on the weight of the newborn babies:

Table No.1
Group Weight of Newborn babies
Under 2500 g 2500-3500 g More than 3500 g
A 1 (3.33%)
26 (86.66%) 3 (10%)
B 0 13 (86.66%) 2 (13.33%)
C 1 (6.66%) 6 (40%) 8 (53.33%)

Most of newborn babies' weight ranged from 2500 to 3500 g (88.66%) according to the data from women with BMI levels under 28 (Groups A and B). The babies of women from Group C mostly weighed over 3500 g (53.33%).

Due to the high percentage of pregnant women over 28 years old (71.66%), we conducted research on how those women's weight affected their BMI levels and the size of their newborn babies. In 58.33% of cases, large babies were delivered by those women, and in 66.66% cases, the women's BMI was over 28.

No side effects related to Medislim were found during pregnancy, labor, fetal development and the early postnatal period.

Conclusion
The results of our preliminary research confirm the fact related to macrosomy of a fetus with obese mother and the necessity of the correction of this pathology in the pregravidary period in the interest of the mother and her child. For this purpose "Medislim" may be used.
