Natural Killer (NK) cells
NK cell is the part of the immunity of the body. Everyone will have NK cell and not necessary to stimulate by vaccine or the antibody but they have very rare in our body(10-20 % of lymphocyte)
What’s the immune doing?
1. Protect against pathogens 2. Eliminate damaged or malignant cells

Natural killer (NK) cells are the front-line troops of the immune system that help to keep you alive while your body marshals a specific response to viruses or malignant cells. They constitute about 10-20% of circulating lymphocytes and are on patrol constantly, always on the look-out for virus-infected or tumor cells, and when detected, they lock onto their targets and destroy them by inducing apoptosis while signaling danger by releasing inflammatory cytokines. By using NK cells that do not need prior exposure to their target, the innate immune system buys time for the adaptive immune system (T cells and B cells) to build up a specific response to the virus or tumor

They have many of studies that presented of the effect of NK cell with the abnormal cell like Cancer, AIDS, Herpes, Bacteria or any infection and the rule of NK cell will response to the abnormal target without antibody like T&B lymphocyte that why they call NK cell as non-specific cell mediated cytotoxicity. When the NK cell found the abnormal cell they will express out of the important enzyme like Perforin and Granzyme to kill and make that abnormal cell disappear.

Some people have the abnormal genetic disease that lack of NK cell (NK cell deficiency), they will have the high risk of infection such as Herpes, Flu or the other disease like “Cancer” and now we can count the NK cell from our body and doctor can predictable the future of your health by the result of CD3-, CD16+ and CD56+ (Flow-cytometer) and we will compare with the normal reference rang of them.
